Passover/Easter Celebrations

With Bobbi outside church

Getting Bobbi's help with egg hunt #2
This year, Passover and Easter fell on the same weekend, making it a busy weekend for the Shermans!  Saturday afternoon we drove up to LA to have our seder with mom's aunt Paula and uncle Ronnie.  They live in Marina del Rey so we went up a little early and walked around the marina.  Zach loved running through the park and seeing the seals.  Plus, he made friends with a very nice Russian woman who was nice enough to indulge him and his friendship.  The seder was wonderful with lots of family and friends.  Zach had a great time running amok with all the kids.

After the seder, we headed to Mommi and Bobbi's house where we spent the night. The next morning, Zach had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard. Also, the Easter bunny (in the form of Auntie Teri) came and left him a great Easter basket. Zach loved finding the eggs and opening them up and finding little prizes in them (mom went wild at party city). After the hunt, we headed to church for Easter service. Unfortunately, Zach was a little apprehensive of the daycare at the church so he and mom spent the service sitting outside coloring and watching sesame street. Maybe next year! We stopped by Grandma Margaret's later in the afternoon for a visit. Zach had lots of fun playing with her playing cards and going for a walk around her condo complex. Finally we headed to Diane and Al's for the Easter dinner get-together. Zach had a blast having another easter egg hunt with cousin Natalie (with Bobbi's help) and playing ball with all the big cousins. All in all it was a wonderful (and exhausting) holiday weekend!

Easter Eggtravaganza

The Saturday before Easter the park by our house had an Easter Eggtravaganza for all the neighborhood kids.  It was a beautiful day and we walked to the park and had a fun morning collecting easter eggs.

Ready for egg collecting with his Easter basket

Waiting patiently with dad for the egg hunt to begin

The eggs weren't hard to find!

Getting the hang of it

Very into collecting easter eggs

Each kid was suppose to only collect 10 eggs- oops!

After we got home the fun didn't end... playing with his new water table- all in all, a great morning!

Bring on 2!

Zach is two!!  We had a great (and busy) birthday weekend.  We were lucky enough to have Uncle Casey and Auntie Maren come in all the way from New York to celebrate with us!  Friday night all the adults went out for dinner to celebrate Mom's birthday.  Saturday was Zach's birthday and we had an Elmo party at the house with lots of friends and family (and tacos!) to help celebrate.  Zach had such a great time playing and socializing with everyone.  Sunday we had cousins Kate and Blake's birthday party and a goodbye family dinner with Auntie Maren and Uncle Casey before they headed back to NY.  All in all, it was a great weekend and we had so much fun celebrating all the birthdays in the family!

Starting off the birthday morning with breakfast out with Mom (Dad was at a Board retreat- luckily he was home in plenty of time to help get ready for the party)

Its not an Elmo birthday without an Elmo cake and cupcakes!

We also had an ice cream station since Zach is a big fan of ice cream (smart little man!)

Catching Up With Friends

We had a busy Saturday meeting up and spending time with friends.  In the morning, we met up at the park with Mom's very good high school friend, Traci, with her husband David and adorable little boy Izzy.  Traci lives in San Francisco and its always so great when she is in town visiting and we get to see each other and catch up.

Later that afternoon, we headed to friends Amy and Neil's for sushi night!  Neil makes delicious sushi rolls (they are seriously so good!)- our deal is, we provide the sake, and Neil makes the sushi (not a bad deal if you ask me)  Amy and Randy joined too and we had quite the get to together with all the kids in tow:  Zach, Cody, baby Dylan, Connor and Sofia.  It was a very fun night and even better now that Neil and Amy live just up the street from us!  (Unfortunately I didn't get too many pictures- having too much fun!)

Valentine's Day

Since mom and dad have been together, every Valentine's Day mom makes dad heart shaped valentine's day cookies.  This year, Zach joined in the fun!

Decorating the cookie for Dad

Very serious about the decorating (although I think more sprinkles ended up in his mouth than on the cookie!)

The finished product
On Valentine's Day, Zach and I had a special mom/son V-day lunch date at Chipotle.  I had the best valentine ever!

Catching Up...

Zach is at such a fun age right now.  He is talking in sentences, loves to play pretend, play instruments (especially the drum), sing and still loves books and watching Sesame Street.  Here are a few random pictures that capture our little guy's personality.

Loving Sprinkles Cupcakes (gets this from both mom and dad!)
